Outline

Department of Rehabilitation Medicine conducts treatment and training for functional disorder due to impairment of central nervous system and musculoskeletal system. Our department supports patients affected activities of daily living and communications to return to daily life and social life by recovering lost physical function and improving remaining ability.

Rehabilitation for central nervous disorders

Rehabilitation team consists of physical therapist, occupational therapist, speech therapist, prosthetist and orthotist, rehabilitation nurse. Stroke Care Unit (SCU) collaborated with Neurosurgery enabled to provide early rehabilitation for cerebrovascular disease.
Cerebrovascular disease, Brain tumor, Head injury, Encephalitis, Spinal cord injury

Rehabilitation for musculoskeletal disorders

Early rehabilitation and athletic rehabilitation after ligament reconstruction of knee will be underwent to return to preinjury performance level, especially for sports injury and disorder. Ideal throwing form will be instructed for disabled throwing shoulder and baseball elbow.
Sport injury/disorder(especially for ligament injury of knee), Osteoarthritis(arthroplasty), Hand injury, Replantation of limb amputation, Spinal injury/Degenerative spinal disease, Resection/Reconstruction of bone and soft tissue tumor, Rheumatoid arthritis, Neuromuscular disease

Rehabilitation for respiratory disorders

Pulmonary rehabilitation which including breathing techniques, exercise training and health education will be applied to patients with acute and chronic respiratory disorders, and secondary respiratory disfunction.
Pneumonia, Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), Asthma, Interstitial lung disease, Pre- and post-thoracotomy and laparotomy

Rehabilitation for cardiac disorders

Cardiac rehabilitation will be applied to patients with acute coronary syndrome, chronic heart failure and pre- and post-cardiac surgery. With cardiologists, physical therapy will be provided safely.

Acute coronary syndrome, Pre- and post-coronary artery bypass grafting, coronary stent placement, valve surgery, TAVI

Robot Rehabilitation therapy

Gait rehabilitation therapy using a rehabilitation robot suit (Hybrid Assistive Limb: HAL) will be applied to treat lower limb functional impairment and gait disability in patients with nervous and muscle disorders. Also, rehabilitation robot with virtual reality system (Tyromotion) will be applied to patients with impairment of upper extremities.
Spinal muscular atrophy, Spinal and bulbar muscular atrophy, Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, Charcot-Marie-Tooth disease, Distal myopathy, Sporadic inclusion body myositis, Congenital myopathy, Muscular dystrophy, Spinal cord injury, Cerebrovascular disease

Dysphagia rehabilitation

Dysphagia rehabilitation consists of videoendoscopic evaluation of swallowing by collaborating with otorhinolaryngologists, swallowing training supported by speech therapist, and ideal food supply by collaborating with registered dietitian.

Cerebrovascular disease, Neuromuscular disease, Esophageal cancer, Pharyngeal cancer, Oral cancer
