Introduction

Radiology has research strengths in biomedical physics, computer vision, minimally invasive therapies, and clinical and translational research in several domains. Our research focuses on diagnostic radiology and interventional radiology (IVR) by applying the latest technology for innovative imaging diagnostic equipment, radiograph, CT, MRI, and nuclear medicine. In addition, we are regularly challenged to learn and develop new technologies, exciting new tools like artificial intelligence (AI) or medical robots, because we have a panoply of information and images available to them and can find better and more efficient ways to process, analyze and interpret what they are seeing. For the aim, we are currently in development of a clinical research training program for residents and fellows to provide personalized training as to processes utilized in patient-oriented research.

Research projects

  • ・MR technologies in diagnostic neuroradiology: synthetic MRI (SyMRI), MR fingerprinting (MRF), and quantitative susceptibility mapping (QSM)
  • ・Voxel-based morphometric analysis on brain MRI in patients with lifestyle-related diseases
  • ・Robotic-assisted IVR system
  • ・Artificial intelligence in diagnostic radiology: neuro and oncology
  • ・Analysis about lymphatic drainage of sentinel lymph nodes using CT and nuclear medicine
