Department of Medical Informatics, Graduate School of Medicine used to be a division of medical information management in the School of Medicine and Hospital (1996-2006). The division was reorganized into the department based on the university policy placing more emphasis on advancement and diversification of graduate school education and research.
Activities (occupational)
- 1. To provide IT solutions in the university hospital to enhance the usability of the hospital information system and the security of the flow of medical information.
- 2. To continue basic and clinical researches to develop computer-aided diagnostic methods as well as other information and communication technologies.
- 3. To promote surveys and research on the hospital-based and national cancer registries and statistics (Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare).

- 1. Implementation of an internet (crowed computing)-utilized medical information exchanging system
- 2. Medical image technology for computer-aided diagnosis
- 3. Methodology of cancer registries and statistics
