Research
The aim of the research is the understanding of molecular pathophysiology of malignant tumors and the development of the effective molecular targeting therapy. Breast cancer, gastrointestinal stromal tumor and neuroendocrine carcinoma are the point of interest. Exploration of key molecules for proliferation and cellular function of malignant tumors will lead to the development of new strategy of molecular targeting therapy.
Education
Doctoral students are encouraged to learn basic molecular methods and to understand general pathology of malignant tumors. The students also work on routine diagnostic pathology of surgical specimens, and the reports are reviewed y the supervisors. The research is basically conducted by molecular biological methods. Fresh tissues and paraffin embedded materials are used. Using DNA and RNA extracted from these tissues, students concentrate on the detailed pathophysiology of malignant tumors and explore the possible molecular target against malignant tumors. The graduates are expected to work as established research pathologist and oncologist.
