1. Research members and introduction

　The research group in our department includes two groups- those who are studying resorption and regenerative medicine of bone, and those who are studying pathological analysis and regulation for oral cancer.

2. Research projects

　Our research focuses on various diseases of oral and maxillofacial region. Our research members investigate these diseases by morphological, molecular biological and physicochemical approach. Our goal is to develop new treatment methods based on our studies.
　Our research project and principle are composed as follows:

• 1: Resorption and regenerative medicine of bone.
  • ･ The pathological analysis and the establishment of a novel therapy for jaw cyst and bone resorption disease.
  • ･ A relationship between inflammation and mechanical stress in pathological bone resorption,
  • ･ Molecular biological studies for the function of osteoblast and bone resorption factor.
  • ･ Regeneration of oral mucosa and bone.
  • ･ Physicochemical analysis of hard tissue and clinical application of dental implant.
• 2: Pathological analysis and regulation for oral cancer.
  • ･ Seeking growth-inhibiting factor in oral cancer cells.
  • ･ Establishment of a novel therapy in oral cancer.
  • ･ The clinical study for reconstruction of tissue defect after the operation in oral cancer.
  • ･ A relationship between innate- or adaptive- immunity, and prognosis in oral cancer patients.
  • ･ The mechanisms of tumor suppression by photodynamic therapy (PDT).
  • ･ Vascularized flap blood flow and its prevention from tissue necrosis in reconstruction of tissue defect.
  • ･ A gene therapy in oral cancer by regulating cell cycle.
