Introduction
For more than 70 years, this faculty has brought up over 200 excellent dermatologists. We are supporting the regional and Aomori prefecture medicine, and at the same time, get internationally high reputation by publishing outstanding research. At present, we, 20 faculty members including assistant staff, doctors, and graduate students, all have high motivation and are enjoying our faculty life.
Research projects
- 1) Gene analysis of inherited skin diseases including epidermolysis bullosa, palmoplantar keratoderma, acrodermatitis enteropathica, and porphyria. We accept collaborations and requests from many institutes in Japan and foreign countries.
- 2） We generated BP230 conditional knockout mice, where the knockout of BP230 is restricted to epidermal cells. BP230 conditional knockout mice were immunized with recombinant BP230, and the splenocytes were injected into Rag2-/- immunodeficient mice intravenously. The recipient mice presented with the phenotype of bullous pemphigoid such as subepidermal blistering. We analyze the pathomechanisms of bullous pemphigoid using this model mice.
- 3） We generated a model system for investigating molecular mechanisms of photoaging.
